Meet Our Coaches
Our debate instructors are among the best in the world. They are national champions and coaches of national champions, and using their years of experience and success, they design all of our curriculum and do all of our teaching. We believe that to truly master debate, you need to learn from the best – which is why we have the highest standards for our coaches.
Danny Debois – Harvard '18
Danny is the winner of the 2014 Tournament of Champions in Lincoln Douglas debate, as well as the Champion of Harvard (x2), the Glenbrooks Invitational, the Minneapple Invitational, and the NCFL Grand Nationals. He is currently finishing his senior at Harvard, where he is President of the Harvard debate team.
T.J. Foley – Harvard '21
T.J. is three-time Iowa State Debate Champion. He has won or reached late elimination rounds of several major national tournaments, including qualifying to the Tournament of Champions with eight career bids. In addition, T.J. is the founder of an international non-profit focused on international youth empowerment. He now studies Government at Harvard University.
Henry Zhang – Yale '17
Henry was the President of the Yale Debate Association and Director of the Yale Summer Debate Program. He was US, North American, and Pan-American Champion, as well as a World Championship Finalist in parliamentary debate. He has appeared on ABC national news as a commentator on the first Presidential Debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.
Nick Steele – Stanford '20
Nick is the 2016 Tournament of Champions in Lincoln Douglas debate. He has won or reached late elimination rounds of every major national tournament. He is an assistant coach at Harvard-Westlake and has coached several students to the TOC, including the champion of the Glenbrooks Invitational. He now attends Stanford University.
Jordan Farenhem – Yale '21
Jordan currently attends Yale University. He won or reached elimination rounds of every major national tournament he attended, including Crestian Tradition (champion), Crestian Round Robin (champion), Florida Blue Key (finalist), Harvard, Emory, the Florida State Tournament, and the New York City Invitational. Jordan now represents Yale competitively as a member of the Yale Debate Association.
James Zhang – Georgetown '19
James currently attends Georgetown University, where he is the President of the Georgetown team. He was a two-time qualifier to the Tournament of Champions in Lincoln Douglas debate and ranked Top 4 nationally in parliamentary debate. James also judged the Finals of the National High School Debate League of China's National Championship and served on its tabulation team.
